Commodore’s update August 2024
I would like to welcome all members to the start of the new season. Although it's still winter, there is still plenty going on.
P9 has been across to Dale Boats and had the leak sorted out.
We have been sorting out the catering lease over the past weeks, and are almost sorted with Constables.
I was told last week that the trailer for "Mercury" has finally been made. This needs to be collected from Auckland, so if anyone is going north and able to tow it back please advise me and we can sort it out. Once Mercury is on the new trailer we will sort the pontoons.
We kick off spring this weekend with a working bee around the club, and also giving the patrol boats a spruce up. They need a wash with Ajax to remove mould and marks, as they are looking scruffy.
The gardens at the front of the building need to be cut down and back to allow people to see the premise, so if we could get a team to please bring gardening tools.
The bunker and boat sheds need the usual clean out, so brooms and shovels would be handy. Trailers for rubbish runs to the landfill are also needed.
Together we can make the clubs facilities shine and have them in top condition ready for the visitors and members to enjoy. Your assistance with this will be greatly appreciated.
Today the replacement parts for the chairs have arrived in town. There are four pallets of seats which need to be swapped over. If we are able to get a team of volunteers together to do this, the suppliers will pay the labour charge to the club as a donation. Please make contact with me if you are able to be a part of this team or are willing to lead it.
We are waiting to hear the outcome of the grant application which has been lodged with Pub Charity for A LOT of parts and items for repairs and maintenance of our fleet. Thanks to Shane and Tash for this.
And that's my news for now......
See you all on Saturday at the working bee
Scotty
