2024 Waitangi Day Pirate Regatta
Ahoy, mateys! Waitangi Day brought out the swashbuckling spirit at the Lake Taupo Yacht Club as our pirate crews gathered for the annual pirate regatta!
Under the sunny skies and gentle breeze, our journey to Acacia Bay was more leisurely than expected, but that didn't stop the excitement. With boats tipping and water cannons blasting, it was a true spectacle on the water! Pirate Andy and his crew stole the show, and all would agree they would win the Most Animated Pirate Ship Award with their boisterous cheers and the snazziest sail around.
The little buccaneers had a blast sailing alongside their mates, trying out different boats and honing their skills. And when it came to water warfare, things got fierce! From water pistols to super soakers, every weapon was fair game in this high-seas showdown.
Avast, me hearties! Our adventure continued at Acacia Bay, where we rendezvoused with Captain Phil for a legendary treasure hunt that had our mini pirates scratching their heads over some tricky clues. But oh, what fun it was! Everyone reveled in the thrill of the hunt, and we owe a mountain of gratitude to Phil and Joanne for orchestrating such an unforgettable escapade.
Arrr, me hearties! Legend has it that a true treasure lies lost in the murky depths of the Lake Taupo Bermuda Triangle, also known as Tash’s curse (aye, beware!). Keep a keen eye out, for should ye spy the skeletal remains of a 420's rudder on yer future voyages, mark the spot with an X, for ye may have stumbled upon the key to uncovering long-lost riches!
Aye, but let's not forget to raise a toast to Nick and Jordie! These fine souls kept our pirate crews and supporters well-fed and hydrated throughout our voyage, ensuring that our bellies were full and our spirits high. Cheers to ye both for keeping our motley crew fueled for the journey ahead!
Arrr, it was a day to remember, filled with laughter, camaraderie, and plenty of adventures on the beautiful Lake Taupo! The perfect way to celebrate our national day.
